EPHB3

EPHB3 encodes the Ephrin type-B receptor 3 protein. Also known as TYRO4, this receptor belongs to the Eph receptor family, the largest subfamily of receptor tyrosine kinases. It interacts with ephrin-B ligands, and the Eph-ephrin interaction leads to bidirectional signaling, which is crucial for cell - cell communication. EphB3 is involved in axon guidance during neural development and tissue boundary formation.
Dysregulation of EPHB3 has been associated with various cancers, such as colorectal and breast cancer. In these diseases, abnormal EphB3 signaling can promote tumor growth and metastasis. Currently, research is underway to develop drugs that target the Eph - ephrin signaling pathway, aiming to block the abnormal activation of EphB3 and potentially provide new treatment options for related diseases.
