FCAR

FCAR encodes the Fc fragment of IgA receptor, also known as CD89. This protein is a transmembrane receptor expressed on myeloid lineage cells. It interacts with IgA antibodies, mediating immune responses such as phagocytosis, antibody - dependent cell - mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC), and cytokine production.
In terms of signaling pathways, FCAR activates the SYK - mediated pathway upon IgA binding. Diseases associated with FCAR dysregulation include autoimmune disorders and infectious diseases. Currently, there is research exploring monoclonal antibodies targeting FCAR for therapeutic development, aiming to modulate the immune response and treat related diseases.
