FXR1

FXR1, also known as FMR1 homolog 1, has alternative names including FMR1 Autosomal Homolog 1, Fragile X Mental Retardation Syndrome-Related Protein 1, HFXR1p, and FXR1P. FXR1 is an RNA-binding protein that interacts with functionally similar proteins FMR1 and FXR2. These proteins shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm, primarily binding to the 60S ribosomal subunit of polyribosomes. Through its RNA-binding ability and interactions with other proteins, FXR1 participates in regulating gene expression and mRNA stability. FXR1 plays a role in various cellular processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and tumor development. Abnormal expression of FXR1 is associated with multiple diseases, including certain types of cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.
