GPR183

GPR183, also known as EBI2 (Epstein - Barr virus - induced gene 2), is a G - protein - coupled receptor. It plays a crucial role in the immune system. GPR183 binds to oxysterols as its ligands. Upon ligand binding, it activates the G - protein signaling pathway, which regulates lymphocyte migration and positioning within lymphoid tissues.
Dysregulation of GPR183 has been linked to several diseases, such as autoimmune disorders and certain types of cancer. In drug development, targeting GPR183 is an emerging area.
