HDAC10

Histone Deacetylase 10 (HDAC10), a class IIb histone deacetylase, catalyzes deacetylation of histones and non-histone substrates. It modulates chromatin structure and gene expression, and uniquely regulates autophagic flux by targeting autophagy-related proteins. Common aliases include HDAC10_HUMAN and FLJ10874.
Dysregulated HDAC10 is implicated in colorectal and liver cancers, driving tumor growth and metastasis. It also links to neurodegeneration via impaired autophagy. While pan-HDAC inhibitors like vorinostat are approved, specific HDAC10 inhibitors are in preclinical development, leveraging its distinct catalytic domain for targeted therapeutic interventions.
