HPRT1

HPRT1, also known as hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase 1, is a crucial enzyme involved in purine metabolism. It catalyzes the conversion of hypoxanthine to inosine monophosphate and guanine to guanosine monophosphate, playing a pivotal role in the generation of purine nucleotides. Mutations in HPRT1 can lead to Lesch-Nyhan syndrome, gout, and resistance to thiopurine drugs in acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
