Integrin beta-like 1 (ITGBL1), also referred to as beta-like integrin 1, is a secreted glycoprotein linked to the integrin superfamily. It mediates cell-extracellular matrix (ECM) interactions by binding to collagen and fibronectin, regulating cell adhesion, migration, and ECM remodeling in both normal and pathological processes.
Aberrant ITGBL1 expression is associated with cancers (e.g., breast, colorectal) and fibrotic disorders, where it promotes tumor invasion or excessive ECM deposition. Preclinical research explores its utility as a diagnostic biomarker; targeted approaches blocking its ECM binding are under investigation for therapy, though no clinical drugs have been approved yet.
