MAGEA6

MAGEA6, also known as melanoma-associated antigen 6, is a protein coding gene that encodes a protein with 50-80% sequence identity to other family members. It plays a role in regulating autophagy, which is critical for cellular integrity. MAGEA6 is involved in various signaling pathways, including AMPK and AMPKα1-dependent autophagy. Its expression is associated with several diseases, such as dyskeratosis congenita, melanoma, and pancreatic cancer. In drug development, targeting MAGEA6 has shown potential in enhancing chemo-sensitivity and sensitizing cancer cells to radiation.
