MORF4L1

Mortality Factor 4 Like 1 (MORF4L1), commonly known as MRG15, is a core component of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase complex. It binds to methylated histones (e.g., H3K36me3) via its chromodomain, modulating chromatin structure to regulate gene expression in cell cycle progression, DNA repair, and neuronal differentiation.
Altered MORF4L1 expression correlates with cancers like breast and colorectal cancer, linked to dysregulated p53-mediated apoptosis and chromatin remodeling. While no direct therapeutic agents target MORF4L1 yet, its role in oncogenesis makes it a potential candidate for developing inhibitors against NuA4 complex-associated functions.
