PDE3A

PDE3A, also known as cGMP-inhibited 3',5'-cyclic phosphodiesterase 3A, CGI-PDE, and CGMP-Inhibited 3',5'-Cyclic Phosphodiesterase A23, is an enzyme encoded by the PDE3A gene. It is a member of the cGMP-inhibited cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (cGI-PDE) family. PDE3A is primarily expressed in platelets, the heart, and vascular smooth muscle, playing a critical role in cardiovascular function by regulating the contraction and relaxation of vascular smooth muscle to influence cardiovascular health. The mechanism of action for PDE3A involves hydrolyzing the second messengers cAMP and cGMP within cells, thus regulating their concentrations and biological functions. It plays a key role in various cellular processes, including platelet aggregation and cardiovascular function regulation. Inhibitors of PDE3A may be effective in treating conditions such as congestive heart failure.

PDE3A is involved in the regulation of physiological processes such as energy metabolism, memory, immunity, cell proliferation, cycle regulation, and apoptosis, and is closely associated with tumor cell proliferation, apoptosis, and metastasis. Studies have shown that PDE3A is overexpressed in certain tumors, making it a promising tumor molecular marker and an ideal target for the development of antitumor drugs.
