POSTN

Periostin (POSTN), also known as osteoblast-specific factor 2 (OSF-2), is a matricellular protein. It plays a crucial role in cell adhesion, migration, and proliferation. POSTN interacts with integrin receptors on the cell surface, activating intracellular signaling pathways such as the PI3K/Akt and MAPK pathways.
This protein is associated with various diseases, including cancer, fibrosis, and cardiovascular diseases. In cancer, POSTN promotes tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis. Regarding drug development, there are ongoing pre - clinical and clinical studies targeting POSTN to develop novel therapeutic agents for these diseases.
