PSIP1

PSIP1 encodes the protein PC4 and SFRS1 interacting protein 1, also known as LEDGF (lens epithelium-derived growth factor). This protein is involved in multiple cellular processes. It functions as a transcriptional co - activator, binding to chromatin and recruiting transcription factors. It is also crucial in the integration of retroviral DNA, interacting with viral integrases.
PSIP1 is associated with pathways related to transcription regulation and retroviral infection. Dysregulation of PSIP1 has been linked to certain cancers and autoimmune diseases. Currently, research on drugs targeting PSIP1 is in the pre - clinical stage, aiming to disrupt its interaction with viral or cellular partners for therapeutic benefits.
