PTPN12

The protein encoded by PTPN12 is tyrosine-protein phosphatase non-receptor type 12, commonly known as PTP-PEST. It regulates cell adhesion, migration, and cytoskeletal dynamics by dephosphorylating substrates like p130Cas and focal adhesion kinase. PTPN12 participates in signaling pathways such as integrin and growth factor receptor cascades, modulating cellular responses to extracellular stimuli.
Dysregulation of PTPN12 is linked to cancer progression, with decreased expression observed in breast and colorectal cancers, promoting invasion and metastasis. Emerging studies suggest its potential as a tumor suppressor. Currently, no direct targeted drugs are approved, but research focuses on developing small molecule activators to restore its phosphatase activity in cancer therapy.

IHC image of CSB-PA019026LA01HU diluted at 1:200 and staining in paraffin-embedded human testis tissue performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system.
