PVALB

PVALB, or Parvalbumin, is a small serum protein. It is a low molecular weight calcium-binding protein with a molecular weight of approximately 10-12.5 kDa and is structurally related to calmodulin and troponin C. PVALB is particularly abundant in fast muscle fibres but is also expressed in other tissues and organs such as the brain and gonads of fish.The mechanism of action of PVALB involves the regulation of calcium ion exchange in muscle, particularly in fast muscle fibres where it helps to control the speed and force of muscle contraction. In a biological sense, PVALB plays a role in a variety of biological processes, including neurotransmitter release, muscle contraction, and as a major allergen in fish. More than 95% of fish-induced food allergies are caused by PVALB proteins. In addition, PVALB may serve as a potential new target for obesity treatment, regulating energy expenditure and thermogenesis by affecting M2-type macrophages.

Immunofluorescence staining of U251 cells with CSB-PA019092HA01HU at 1:166, counter-stained with DAPI. The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde, permeabilized using 0.2% Triton X-100 and blocked in 10% normal Goat Serum. The cells were then incubated with the antibody overnight at 4°C. The secondary antibody was Alexa Fluor 488-congugated AffiniPure Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG(H+L).
