Alterations in RAD51AP1 expression or function are linked to cancers like breast and ovarian carcinoma, where defective HR drives genomic instability and tumor progression. It also acts as a potential biomarker: tumors with RAD51AP1 deficiency may exhibit enhanced sensitivity to PARP inhibitors, opening avenues for targeted cancer treatment strategies.
