RASD1

RASD1 encodes the Dexamethasone-induced Ras-related protein 1, also commonly known as Rhes or Dexras1. It functions as a small GTPase, acting as a molecular switch to regulate signal transduction. It is involved in the cAMP-PKA signaling pathway, influencing neurotransmitter release and neuronal excitability.
Abnormal expression of RASD1 has been associated with various diseases, including Cushing's syndrome and some mood disorders. In drug development, targeting RASD1 holds promise for treating these related conditions. Research is underway to develop small - molecule inhibitors or activators to modulate its function.
