RIGI, retinoid inducible gene I receptor, also known as DDX58, RLR-1. It is a cytoplasmic RNA deconjugating enzyme and belongs to the pattern recognition receptors of intrinsic immunity.
RIG-I is able to bind pathogen-associated molecular patterns and RNA ligands to recognize non-self viral RNAs, activate the RIG-I signaling pathway, and promote cytokine production to exert an antiviral effect. The RIG-I-like receptors (RLRs) are the key viral infection sensors that mediate the transcriptional induction of interferon type I and other genes for transcriptional induction, which together establish an antiviral host response. RIG-I activity in the cell is controlled by multiple regulatory mechanisms, including proteins, post-translational modifications, and non-coding RNAs that interact with RIG-I.
The role of RIG-I in viral infections, malignant tumors, and autoimmune disorders, as well as the mechanisms by which it is regulated, provide new ideas for control of viral infections and immune-modulating therapy provides new ideas and directions.
