RNASE7

Ribonuclease 7 (RNase 7), the protein encoded by RNASE7, is a secretory member of the RNase A superfamily with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. It targets Gram-positive/negative bacteria and fungi by degrading microbial RNA, disrupting cellular metabolism and supporting innate immune defense in epithelial barriers like skin and mucosa.
Reduced RNase 7 expression links to impaired skin immunity, associated with conditions such as atopic dermatitis and recurrent Staphylococcus aureus infections. Its natural antimicrobial properties drive research into topical formulations, aiming to treat drug-resistant skin infections and enhance wound healing without inducing microbial resistance.
