ROBO4

ROBO4, also known as Roundabout homolog 4, is a protein with several common aliases such as MGC16442 and SAX. Its main mechanism involves guiding angiogenesis and maintaining vascular stability by interacting with specific ligands. It is mainly involved in the Slit - Robo signaling pathway, which is crucial for vascular development.
Aberrations in ROBO4 are associated with various vascular - related diseases like diabetic retinopathy and certain types of cancer. In drug development, researchers are exploring agents that target ROBO4 to modulate angiogenesis, aiming to develop new therapies for conditions where abnormal blood vessel growth is a key factor.
