S100A11, part of the S100 protein family, is a calcium-binding protein found in diverse cellular locations such as the cytoplasm, nucleus, and cell periphery. It typically operates as a homodimer, and its function is triggered by binding to Ca2+, which leads to conformational changes that expose hydrophobic regions for interaction with target proteins. This protein plays a key role in cell growth regulation, apoptosis, inflammatory responses, and cytoskeletal rearrangements. S100A11 is also critical for cellular processes like inflammation, membrane repair, and DNA repair.
