SAA2

Serum Amyloid A2 (SAA2) encodes the Serum Amyloid A2 protein, an acute-phase reactant with aliases including SAA and SAA2.1. Synthesized primarily in the liver, it is rapidly upregulated during inflammation, binding to high-density lipoprotein (HDL) to modulate lipid transport and immune responses. It interacts with pattern recognition receptors, driving pro-inflammatory signaling cascades like NF-κB.
Dysregulation of SAA2 is linked to secondary amyloidosis, where misfolded SAA2 aggregates form organ deposits. It also associates with chronic inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease. Current drug development focuses on inhibiting SAA2 aggregation or its pro-inflammatory effects, with preclinical candidates targeting its synthesis or receptor interactions, though clinical trials remain limited.

IHC image of CSB-PA020657LA01HU diluted at 1:600 and staining in paraffin-embedded human liver cancer performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system.
