SFRP5

Secreted Frizzled-Related Protein 5 (SFRP5), also called FRP-5, is a secreted glycoprotein of the SFRP family. It acts as an antagonist of the canonical Wnt/β-catenin pathway by sequestering Wnt ligands or interacting with Frizzled receptors, thereby inhibiting downstream signaling cascades.
Aberrant SFRP5 expression correlates with metabolic disorders like obesity, type 2 diabetes, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease—reduced levels often link to inflammation and insulin resistance. Preclinical studies explore SFRP5-based therapies (e.g., recombinant proteins) for metabolic disease treatment, though no targeted drugs are currently approved.

IHC image of CSB-PA021141LA01HU diluted at 1:200 and staining in paraffin-embedded human cervical cancer performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system.
