SIGLEC9

SIGLEC9, also known as Sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin 9, is a type I transmembrane protein. It is also commonly referred to as CD329. This protein can bind to sialic acid residues on glycoproteins, which is crucial for cell - cell recognition and immune regulation. It mainly participates in the Siglec - mediated inhibitory signaling pathway, dampening immune cell activation.
SIGLEC9 is associated with various diseases such as cancers and autoimmune disorders. In cancer, it may help tumor cells evade immune surveillance. Regarding drug development, researchers are exploring therapies targeting SIGLEC9 to enhance anti - tumor immune responses, aiming to block its inhibitory effects and boost the body's natural ability to fight diseases.
