SLIT2

SLIT2, or secreted Slit protein 2, is a cell signaling molecule widely expressed and a member of the Slit family. It interacts with Robo family receptors to regulate neurodevelopment, angiogenesis, organ and tissue development, and stem cell proliferation. SLIT2 binds to the ROBO family receptors (ROBO1-4), influencing cell migration and proliferation. It plays a critical role in guiding axonal growth and neuronal migration during nervous system development and also features in tumor progression. For instance, the SLIT2-ROBO1 signal axis promotes tumor cell colonization and growth in the liver during pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma metastasis. SLIT2 expression levels are correlated with cancer progression across various cancer tissues, and its mechanisms within the tumor microenvironment are a focal point of current research.
