SOD3

Extracellular superoxide dismutase (SOD3), also called EC-SOD, is a secreted Cu-Zn-containing enzyme that catalyzes superoxide anion dismutation into hydrogen peroxide and oxygen. It localizes in the extracellular matrix and vascular walls, scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) to shield tissues from oxidative damage, a critical defense against oxidative stress.
Dysregulated SOD3 links to atherosclerosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and Alzheimer’s disease. Current research focuses on recombinant SOD3 variants and small-molecule activators to enhance its activity, targeting oxidative stress-related disorders—preclinical studies show promise, though clinical trials remain in early stages.

IHC image of CSB-PA022399LA01HU diluted at 1:500 and staining in paraffin-embedded human testis tissue performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system.
