SPIN1, also known as Spindlin 1, is a protein encoded by the SPIN1 gene. It has no widely - recognized common aliases. SPIN1 functions as a histone reader, binding to specific histone methylation marks. It is involved in the Wnt/β - catenin signaling pathway, regulating gene transcription and cell proliferation.
Altered expression of SPIN1 is associated with various cancers, such as breast, ovarian, and gastric cancers. In drug development, researchers are exploring small - molecule inhibitors targeting SPIN1 to disrupt its function and suppress tumor growth, but there are currently no approved drugs on the market.
