SRRM2

SRRM2 encodes the Serine/arginine repetitive matrix 2 protein (alias SRm300), a critical core subunit of the spliceosome. It modulates pre-mRNA alternative splicing by forming complexes with SR proteins and other spliceosomal factors, governing exon inclusion/exclusion to generate diverse functional protein isoforms essential for cellular homeostasis.
Aberrant SRRM2 expression or function is linked to malignancies like lung and breast cancer, where dysregulated splicing drives tumor growth and metastasis. Preclinical research explores small-molecule inhibitors targeting SRRM2’s protein-protein interactions to correct pathological splicing, though no clinical candidates have entered trials yet.
