TARDBP

TARDBP protein, also known as TDP-43, is an RNA-binding factor that possesses RRM1 and RRM2 domains. Its structure comprises an amino-terminal region at the N-terminus, two RNA recognition motifs, and a glycine-rich C-terminal region. This protein plays a crucial role in neuronal survival and protein function in neurodegenerative diseases by regulating RNA splicing processes through binding to GU-rich repeat sequences. Mutations or abnormal aggregations of TARDBP protein have been associated with various neurodegenerative diseases, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal lobar dementia (FTLD). Although the specific signaling pathways involving TARDBP are not fully understood, studies suggest that it may interact with other proteins or molecules to form complex signaling networks that collectively regulate neuronal survival and function, involving signal transduction pathways such as apoptosis and autophagy.
