TBC1D4

TBC1D4, a member of the TBC1 domain family, is a protein kinase encoded by the TBC1D4 gene. It regulates G protein signaling, notably by modulating Rab GTPase activity, which in turn affects intracellular vesicle transport and protein localization. TBC1D4 is engaged in a plethora of cellular physiological processes, such as ER-to-Golgi protein transport, cell polarity establishment, and cell migration. Its dysregulation is associated with neurodegenerative diseases and cancer, with research indicating that TBC1D4's abnormal expression in tumor cells may play a role in tumor invasion and metastasis, positioning it as a potential target for cancer therapy.
