THBS2

THBS2 encodes thrombospondin-2, a protein also known as TSP-2. It belongs to the thrombospondin family and plays a crucial role in cell adhesion, migration, and proliferation. Thrombospondin-2 is involved in the regulation of angiogenesis by interacting with various growth factors and extracellular matrix proteins. It is related to the TGF-β and VEGF signaling pathways.
Abnormal expression of THBS2 is associated with multiple diseases, such as cancer, where it can act as a tumor suppressor. In drug development, targeting THBS2 is being explored for potential therapeutic strategies, aiming to modulate its functions to treat these related diseases.
