TIE1

TIE1 encodes the tyrosine kinase with immunoglobulin-like and EGF-like domains 1 protein, also known as Tunica interna endothelial cell kinase 1. This protein is a receptor tyrosine kinase expressed mainly on endothelial cells. It contributes to angiogenesis and vascular stability by interacting with other TIE family members and angiopoietins. It is involved in the Ang/TIE signaling pathway.
Dysregulation of TIE1 is associated with various vascular - related diseases, such as hereditary lymphedema. In drug development, targeting TIE1 and its related signaling pathways is being explored as a potential strategy to treat vascular disorders. However, more research is needed to fully understand its functions and develop effective therapies.
