VGF

VGF, also known as SCG7 or SgVII, is a neurotrophic factor-induced protein. VGF is a secreted protein with neuroendocrine specificity, primarily expressed in neurons and neuroendocrine cells, and upregulated by neurotrophic factors. VGF involves multiple cellular pathways, including signal transduction and intracellular signaling. Derivatives of VGF play roles in regulating energy, water and electrolyte balance, circadian rhythms, and reproductive activities. VGF is associated with various diseases, including depression, neurodegenerative disorders, and endocrine disorders. Abnormal expression of VGF may be related to the pathophysiological processes of these diseases, making VGF and its derivatives potential clinical diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets.
