ZBTB16

The protein encoded by ZBTB16 is zinc finger and BTB domain-containing protein 16, commonly known as PLZF. It functions as a transcriptional repressor, regulating gene expression through chromatin remodeling and interaction with corepressor complexes.
Aberrant ZBTB16 expression is linked to acute promyelocytic leukemia via PML-RARA fusion and testicular germ cell tumors. Preclinical studies target its interaction with co-repressors, exploring small molecules to disrupt oncogenic transcriptional programs, though no approved drugs currently target PLZF directly.
