AGPAT2

AGPAT2, or 1-acylglycerol-3-phosphate O-acyltransferase 2, is an enzyme encoded by the AGPAT2 gene. It catalyzes a key step in glycerophospholipid biosynthesis by producing phosphatidic acid from 1-acylglycerol and CDP-diacylglycerol, leading to the synthesis of membrane phospholipids. AGPAT2 dysfunction is associated with diseases like neurodegenerative conditions, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. Its upregulation in tumors may enhance tumor cell proliferation and migration, making AGPAT2 a potential target for cancer research and treatment.
