BAG3

BAG3, a member of the BAG protein family, plays a critical role in diverse cellular activities such as apoptosis regulation, developmental signaling, cytoskeletal dynamics, and autophagy. BAG3 performs these roles by binding to the ATPase domain of heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) via its BAG domain and by interacting with other proteins through WW and PXXP domains. Essential for cellular stress adaptation, BAG3's misregulation is associated with tumorigenesis. Moreover, BAG3 is linked to dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), suggesting that mutations in the BAG3 could be a novel genetic factor contributing to this cardiac disease.
