BATF3

BATF3, the basic leucine zipper ATF-like transcription factor 3, also known as JDP1, SNFT, and JUNDM1.It is a transcription factor encoded by the human BATF3 gene, and belongs to the family of basic leucine zipper proteins.
BATF3 plays a role in the development and function of a wide range of immune cells, particularly in dendritic cells and CD8+ T cells. Its mechanism of action involves heterodimerization with JUN proteins to form a transcriptional repressor complex that regulates the expression of downstream genes, e.g., by repressing the transcription of interleukin 2 and matrix metalloproteinase 1. BATF3 plays a key role in the immune response, affecting T-cell survival, memory formation, and anti-tumor immune responses.
Abnormal expression of BATF3 has been associated with a wide range of disorders including certain types of leukemias and immune deficiencies. BATF3 is an important target for the study of immune-related diseases and the development of therapeutic strategies.
