C1QC, Complement C1q Subcomponent C, is one of the key components that make up the C1 complex of the serum complement system.C1QC works synergistically with the C1QA and C1QB chains and binds to the two enzyme precursors, C1r and C1s, to form the C1 complex, which serves as the starting point for activation of the complement cascade reaction.C1QC consists of six identical polypeptide chains C1QC consists of six identical polypeptide chains containing an N-terminal collagen-like region and a C-terminal spherical structural domain, which is responsible for recognising immune complexes.The mechanism of action of C1QC involves the binding of its spherical head to immune complexes, which activates C1r and C1s and initiates the complement cascade reaction, leading to the lysis of pathogens and the activation of immune cells.

Biologically, C1QC plays an important role in the recognition and clearance of pathogens, regulation of the immune response, promotion of apoptosis, and cell signalling.Abnormal expression or dysfunction of C1QC has been associated with a wide range of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, making it a potential target for the treatment of these diseases.
