CCN1

CCN1 encodes Cysteine-rich angiogenic inducer 61 (CYR61), a secreted matricellular protein of the CCN family. It interacts with integrins (αvβ3, α6β1) and growth factor receptors to modulate cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and angiogenesis, via Wnt/β-catenin, PI3K/Akt, and MAPK pathways.
CCN1 links to breast/colon cancers (promotes tumor growth/metastasis), pulmonary fibrosis (extracellular matrix remodeling), and atherosclerosis. Preclinical neutralizing antibodies inhibit tumor angiogenesis, but no targeted therapies have entered clinical trials yet.
