DHCR7

The gene DHCR7 encodes the protein 7-dehydrocholesterol reductase, which plays a crucial role in cholesterol synthesis by converting 7-dehydrocholesterol to cholesterol. Known as SLOS, this enzyme is ubiquitously expressed and localized in the endoplasmic reticulum and nuclear outer membrane. Mutations in DHCR7 lead to Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome (SLOS), a developmental disorder characterized by cognitive disabilities, facial dysmorphism, and growth abnormalities.
Recent research has identified that DHCR7 is involved in various signaling pathways, including those related to cholesterol metabolism and ferroptosis. The study of DHCR7 mutations has opened avenues for drug development, with potential therapies targeting the enzyme's activity to treat SLOS and other related conditions.

IHC image of CSB-PA006844LA01HU diluted at 1:600 and staining in paraffin-embedded human colon cancer performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system.
