FBLN7

Fibulin-7 (FBLN7), a secreted glycoprotein of the fibulin family, has no widely recognized alternative aliases. It contributes to extracellular matrix (ECM) assembly by interacting with laminin-111 and collagen IV—core components of basement membranes—thus supporting tissue structural integrity and regulating cell-matrix adhesion.
Dysregulation of FBLN7 is associated with renal fibrosis and ovarian cancer (where its expression is reduced). It crosstalks with TGF-β signaling, a central pathway in fibrotic processes. Preclinical research focuses on modulating FBLN7’s ECM interactions to develop therapies for fibrotic disorders like chronic kidney disease, though no clinical-stage drugs exist yet.
