GPR146

GPR146 is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily, officially named G protein-coupled receptor 146. It is also commonly referred to as MTHFR or GPR146_HUMAN in some biological databases. The protein exerts its functions by coupling to G proteins upon ligand binding, thereby activating downstream intracellular signaling cascades.
Emerging studies suggest GPR146 may be involved in lipid metabolism and glucose homeostasis, potentially through modulating pathways like the cAMP/PKA signaling axis. Dysregulation of GPR146 has been linked to metabolic disorders such as obesity and type 2 diabetes. Currently, research on GPR146-targeted drug development is in the early stages, with efforts focused on identifying selective agonists or antagonists to explore its therapeutic potential in metabolic diseases.
