GRM1

GRM1 encodes the metabotropic glutamate receptor 1, also known as mGluR1. It is a G - protein - coupled receptor. Binding of glutamate to GRM1 activates G - proteins, leading to the activation of phospholipase C, which increases inositol trisphosphate and diacylglycerol levels, mobilizing calcium from intracellular stores.
