IFNA14

Interferon alpha-14 (IFNA14), also known as IFN-α14, is a type I interferon cytokine. It exerts biological functions by binding to the heterodimeric IFNAR1/IFNAR2 receptor complex, activating the JAK-STAT signaling pathway. This triggers transcription of antiviral genes (e.g., MX1, OAS) and modulates immune responses, including enhancing natural killer cell activity and antigen presentation.
IFNA14 plays roles in defending against viral infections (e.g., hepatitis B, HCV) and exhibits antitumor potential in malignancies like melanoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. While not yet approved as a standalone drug, it is being investigated in combination therapies for viral diseases and cancers, leveraging its immunomodulatory and antiviral properties to improve treatment efficacy.
