ITGAX

The protein corresponding to the gene ITGAX is integrin alpha X. It is also commonly known as CD11c. This protein is a crucial component of the integrin family, which plays a key role in cell adhesion and migration. It functions by binding to specific ligands on the cell surface or in the extracellular matrix, thereby mediating cell - cell and cell - matrix interactions. The ITGAX - associated signaling pathways are mainly involved in immune response regulation.
Abnormal expression of ITGAX has been linked to various diseases, such as autoimmune diseases and certain types of cancers. In drug development, researchers are focusing on designing agents that can modulate the function of ITGAX - related proteins.
