LMP1

LMP1, also known as LMP-1 or CD340, is a membrane protein encoded by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and is part of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily. Found in B lymphocytes infected by EBV, LMP1 activates signaling pathways such as NF-κB, JAK/STAT, and PI3K/AKT, which promote cell survival, proliferation, and resistance to apoptosis. LMP1 is implicated in the development of EBV-related tumors, including Hodgkin's lymphoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and aids the virus in evading host immune surveillance, facilitating viral persistence and tumor cell survival. It represents a significant target for the investigation and treatment of EBV-associated malignancies.
