MICA stands for MHC class I polypeptide-related sequence A. It's also known as MIC-A. This protein plays a critical role in the immune system. It functions by binding to the NKG2D receptor on natural killer cells and certain T cells, activating them to target and kill stressed or infected cells. It is involved in the NKG2D-mediated signaling pathway.
Abnormal expression of MICA is associated with various diseases, such as cancer and autoimmune disorders. In drug development, targeting the MICA - NKG2D interaction is being explored as a potential therapeutic strategy. Some pre - clinical studies are underway to evaluate agents that can modulate this interaction for better disease treatment.

After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a Goat anti-rabbit polymer IgG labeled by HRP and visualized using 0.49% DAB.
