MORC3

MORC3, a microtubule-associated nuclear matrix protein with a nuclear matrix binding domain, is crucial for transcriptional regulation and contains potential RNA binding sites. Highly expressed in immune cells, MORC3 is significantly up-regulated in peripheral blood leukocytes post-chemotherapy, suggesting a role in cell survival and apoptosis. It activates p53, inducing p53-dependent cell senescence and localizing it within PML nuclei. MORC3 also plays a part in DNA damage repair and epigenetic regulation, with its dysregulation linked to cancer, autoimmune diseases, and bone diseases. Its functions encompass signal-dependent chromatin remodeling, epigenetic control, lipogenesis promotion, carcinogenesis involvement, and bone homeostasis regulation, highlighting its importance in fundamental biological processes.
