MRC2

MRC2, or mannose receptor type C 2, is a transmembrane protein encoded by the MRC2 gene and primarily expressed on macrophages. It binds to extracellular matrix components like mannose, fucose, and N-acetylgalactosamine, regulating phagocytosis and immune cell interactions. MRC2 is involved in immune recognition, pathogen clearance, and immune response regulation. It promotes macrophage phagocytosis and pathogen clearance by recognizing pathogen surface carbohydrates and is implicated in inflammatory response and tissue repair. MRC2 dysfunction is associated with diseases such as atherosclerosis and tumor immune evasion.
