PAN2

PAN2, also known as USP52. PAN2 is a plant-specific receptor-like protein that has been studied more frequently, mainly in plants such as maize, where it plays an important role in stomatal development.
The mechanism of action of PAN2 involves synergistic interactions with PAN1, which affects stomatal development through polarization of the parvocellular mother cell by dividing. PAN2 also physically interacts with members of the WPR family of proteins and is polar localization in paracrine mother cells prior to cell division, and this polar localization is dependent on PAN2 but not PAN1.The function of PAN2 is not limited to SMC polarization, but it also plays a broader role in plant development, potentially by influencing actin polymerization to directly or indirectly regulate polarized membrane trafficking, which affects the formation of the cell plate and cell shape determination.
PAN2 has a key role in plant stomatal development and polarity establishment, which is critical for gas exchange and environmental adaptation in plants.
