PBK

PBK, also known as PDZ-binding kinase, is a serine/threonine protein kinase. It is also commonly referred to as T-lymphokine-activated killer cell-originated protein kinase (TOPK). PBK plays a crucial role in regulating the cell cycle and promoting cell proliferation. It functions through phosphorylation of key proteins involved in mitosis, integrating into the MAPK signaling pathway.
Abnormal expression of PBK is associated with multiple cancers, including breast and lung cancer. Due to its key role in cancer progression, PBK has emerged as a potential target for drug development. Several research efforts are underway to design inhibitors that could effectively block its activity and halt cancer cell growth.
